Choosing Loan Servicing Software for Private Lenders

Evaluate loan servicing software with a practical demo scorecard for bridge and construction loans, ACH payments, reserves, reconciliation and migration.

Loan servicing software manages a loan after funding: balances, schedules, payments, borrower requests and payoff. For private lenders, choosing a platform means checking how it handles your actual loan structures and exceptions. A polished payment dashboard is only the beginning.

Start with three representative loans: a current interest-only bridge loan, a construction loan with a reserve and pending draw, and a loan with a returned payment or approaching maturity. Use redacted records and the same examples in every vendor demonstration.

Separate origination from servicing requirements

A loan origination system supports application intake, underwriting, approval and closing. A loan servicing platform operates the funded loan. If you need both, ask the vendor to show which information carries across the boarding handoff and who validates it. Identify any manual re-entry or separate subscriptions in the proposal.

Use a servicing demo scorecard

For each requirement, record whether the workflow was demonstrated, needs configuration, requires an integration or is unsupported. Keep the evidence and follow-up owner beside the result. Do not treat a roadmap item as an available capability.

Check bridge and hard money loan operations

For short-duration real estate loans, test interest calculations, maturity dates, extensions, fees and payoff preparation against your documents. Ask how approved changes affect the schedule and how the system retains the original terms. Include a late payment or balance correction so the demo covers an exception your team actually works.

See how Ursara approaches bridge lending workflows. Confirm each proposed loan structure with the implementation team rather than assuming every platform supports every product.

Follow a construction draw into servicing

A construction lender needs the budget, draw request, inspection evidence and release decision to stay connected. Ask the vendor to demonstrate an incomplete packet, a budget change and a partially approved request. Establish who can approve changes and where your team records the disbursement.

Explore construction draw management and construction lending software alongside the servicing demonstration.

Use the construction draw request checklist to prepare the budget lines, documents and inspection evidence for that demonstration.

Confirm integrations and the full cost

Separate a named integration from the work it actually performs. For payment providers, confirm authorization, eligibility, settlement and return handling. For accounting, confirm entities, account mapping, review and export direction. Identify the person responsible for each connection and ask what happens when it fails.

Request a proposal covering subscription capacity, implementation, data migration, payment-provider charges, integrations, training and support. Use the Ursara pricing approach and LOS ROI calculator to structure your questions and model your own assumptions.

Plan migration before committing to cutover

Agree on source records, opening balances, historical documents, access and reconciliation owners. A completed import does not establish that the portfolio is ready for live operations. Define acceptance criteria for representative loans and decide how your team will handle activity during the transition.

Use the servicing migration checklist and review implementation planning with the people responsible for finance and operations.

Evaluate Ursara with your own workflows

Ursara connects private lending origination, servicing, construction draws and borrower and investor workflows. Review loan servicing software and the Ursara and The Mortgage Office evaluation framework. Provider access, supported loan structures and enabled integrations are confirmed during implementation.

Book a servicing demonstration with redacted loan terms, an example payment exception and your accounting requirements. Ask the team to walk through the scorecard with you.
